This sound file contains the balancing frequencies related to laminitis in horses.
With laminitis, there is an inflammation in the hoof that causes the hoof lamellae, which ensure that the hoof wall and the coffin bone remain connected to each other, to become inflamed. The inflammation can cause this connection to break and the coffin bone to detach from the hoof wall, causing the coffin bone to sink or even tilt. Acute laminitis is painful, and the horse can walk lame, ‘sawhorse stance’ or not wanting to walk or stand at all. In more chronic cases, the disease can be recognized by the distinctive rings on the hoof wall.
Several factors can play a role in the development of laminitis, such as a disturbed sugar balance, a disturbed hormonal balance, overloading the foot, accumulation of waste products in the body or another underlying disease (inflammation of the large intestine, retained placenta, impaired liver function, etc.).
