Edema – Fluid Retention

This sound file contains the balancing frequencies related to fluid retention and edema formation.

Sometimes your body retains too much fluid. For example, you can suffer from swollen feet and ankles and swollen lower legs. Other complaints are tired or heavy legs and varicose veins. The ankles, buttocks, stomach, legs and feet are places where this is most common. Known causes are, for example, standing or sitting for a long time, hormonal fluctuations e.g. prior to menstruation or during the menopause, pregnancy, excessive salt use and warm weather. Some serious conditions can also cause fluid retention.

Edema is an accumulation of fluid in a certain part of the body. This causes the body part to swell. Edema mainly occurs in the ankles, feet, legs and lungs (pulmonary edema). Common symptoms of edema in the lungs are shortness of breath and coughing, especially when lying flat. With edema, a pit remains in the skin when you press on a swollen spot. Edema can be harmless, but can also occur after an accident, surgery, radiation, damage or blockage of lymphatic vessels or a serious underlying condition, such as heart failure or kidney failure.
