Moon blindness – Uveitis

This sound file contains the balancing frequencies that act on the condition uveitis. In horses/odd ungulates, this condition is also known as moon blindness.

Uveitis is an overreaction of the immune system, causing inflammation in the eye. This occurs in dogs and cats as well as in horses. Usually this happens after an initial eye injury or infection (herpes virus, lyme, leptospirosis). Uveitis causes episodes of eye irritation such as corneal cloudiness, pain, discharge, and a small pupil. It can occur in one eye or alternately in both eyes. Sometimes animals with uveitis have poor light tolerance.

Recurrent equine uveitis is the most common cause of blindness in horses. In horses, the episodes usually become more severe and frequent, until the eye becomes completely blind.
